PRAY FOR THE DEVELOPING SITUATION IN SYRIA

(From Open Doors)

  • Pray for unity among leaders, that they keep the Syrian people’s interest as a first priority.

  • Urgently pray for peace in Syria, that the cycle of violence would cease, that there would be no spirit of vengeance against anyone, and that God’s justice and mercy would prevail in this land that has been troubled for more than a decade.

  • Pray for the leaders of all factions to be moved towards reconciliation and for the protection of innocent civilians.

  • Lift up Christian communities in prayer, asking for strength and courage.

  • Pray for the church to remain a beacon of hope and love, even as it faces immense challenges.

  • Pray for church leaders, that they (re)commit to their calling to serve the church and their society at large.

  • Ask God to grant wisdom to church leaders as they guide their communities.

  • Pray for safety and resilience for families forced to make impossible choices about whether to stay or to leave.

  • Pray for the other minorities (Alawites and others), that they will be protected to avoid more bloodshed.

  • Finally, pray for healing for Syria as a nation, that broken relationships would be restored and that the hope of Christ would shine, bringing comfort to the weary and a future to those who feel forgotten. May the global Church stand in unity, interceding for our brothers and sisters in Syria and for all those longing for peace and justice.

PRAY FOR GAZA

We continue to pray for Christ's merciful and just intervention in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict,  in the terrible suffering and killing.

  • Pray for the hungry, starving and broken children and innocent people in Gaza.

  • Pray that they will be able to receive aid, food, shelter and other basic life supplies.

  • Pray they will call on the Name of Jesus and that He will reveal Himself to them and they be drawn to Him.

PRAY FOR LEBANON

Where do we run when our homes are shaken by war? Amid the panic and uncertainty following the waves of airstrikes across the South and the Beqaa Valley in the East today, many are fleeing as warnings urge civilians to evacuate their homes. With at least 100 lives lost already and over 400 injured, according to the health ministry, and schools shut down by the education ministry, fear is palpable. As the threat of war looms heavier each day, we run to God—our Refuge and ever-present help in times of trouble.

  • Pray for protection over civilians, especially in areas most affected by the strikes.

  • Pray for God’s peace to prevail in Lebanon and across the region.

  • Comfort and peace for all those who are injured and traumatized, and families of those who are deceased.

  • Pray for the 200,000+ refugees that have fled the south and come to Sidon, Beirut and other “safe” areas, are staying in public school buildings…  Pray that their physical needs will be met (food, sleeping quarters, medicines, etc.) but also their spiritual needs.  Pray for the Christians to reach out to them.

From Resurrection Church Lebanon:

Lebanon has once again been engulfed in war, with hundreds of thousands fleeing from the South, Beqaa, and other cities and villages in search of safety in more secure areas. One of our leaders, on his drive home today, was shocked with what he saw:

"There are so many displaced people from the South. These people are sheep without any shepherd. They are everywhere along the highways, cars broken down in some cases, and stacks of mattresses tied to the roofs of cars. Cars full of families. People have parked all along the side streets and are settling down to sleep in their cars tonight."

Today alone, 492 people have been killed, including 35 children and 58 women, while at least 1,645 others are wounded in targeted airstrikes affecting multiple regions across the country. Many people are reaching out to us, asking for shelter and homes to host them. Our congregation and pastors who reside in southern Lebanon have already evacuated, and our church is now in emergency mode, preparing to respond.

"My wife’s entire family is fleeing from the South. Seven families, all her relatives and cousins, are desperately seeking shelter. They need a place to stay. We are really hoping the church can help us."

As a response to this crisis we are witnessing, Resurrection Church is establishing an emergency fund to provide relief and pastoral care to those in need. We remain committed to living like Jesus—caring for people and making disciples of Christ.

The challenges our country faces are immense, but we believe in the power of prayer! We ask you to stand with us in prayer for:

  • Ask God to bring peace and comfort to the hundreds of thousands who are displaced from their homes. Pray that, through their hardships, many would encounter the love of Christ and be drawn to Him.

  • Lift up our emergency fund efforts as we seek to provide relief and pastoral care. Pray that God would abundantly provide resources to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of those affected, and that our care would open hearts to the message of salvation.

  • Our community service and medical care team as they are on standby, ready to cater to the urgency of the situation.

  • Pray that in the midst of war and uncertainty, God’s presence would be felt in powerful ways. Ask that His peace would draw many into relationship with Him, and that our church would remain a beacon of light, leading others to become disciples of Christ.

  • The traumatized children as they are the most neglected in such a crisis. Many are sitting unattended, hearing adults talk about the news. Many have witnessed the horrors that were left by the airstrikes.

  • Our community service and medical care team as they are responding hour after hour to more than 300 people, feeding them, praying with them, and caring for their children.

  • Wisdom and guidance for Resurrection Church pastors, who are ever present in the homes and neighborhoods of our communities, praying and comforting families, sharing the love of Christ and making disciples.

  • Leaders of Resurrection Church as they navigate the ministry and its challenges during these times.

  • The Lord to provide the necessary funding in order to serve these people with their basic needs.
